PUBLICALLY RECOGNIZING THE ONGOING NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF THE CABOT/KOPPERS SUPERFUND SITE ON LOCAL RESIDENTS AND THE FLORIDAN AQUIFER, ALACHUA COUNTY COMMISSION SENDS SOS TO OBAMA!

ON JUNE 172011, THE ALACHUA COUNTY COMMISSION (BOCC) SENT A LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA, ASKING FOR EXECUTIVE INTERVENTION IN ORDER TO EXPEDITE THE RELOCATION OF AFFECTED RESIDENTS AND THE PROTECTION OF GAINESVILLE’S MUNICIPAL WATER SUPPLY.

ON JUNE 17 2011, THE ALACHUA COUNTY COMMISSION (BOCC) SENT A LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA, ASKING FOR EXECUTIVE INTERVENTION IN ORDER TO EXPEDITE THE RELOCATION OF AFFECTED RESIDENTS AND THE PROTECTION OF GAINESVILLE’S MUNICIPAL WATER SUPPLY.

SANDRA WATTS KENNEDY, PRESIDENT OF THE STEPHEN FOSTER NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION, INC., SAYS THAT AFFECTED RESIDENTS ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO CHAIR PINKOSON AND THE BOCC.  PINKOSON AND OTHER COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HAVE SEEN FIRSTHAND THE PERNICIOUS EFFECTS OF ONGOING CONTAMINATION ON LOCAL LIVES, HAVING TAKEN THE TIME TO VISIT AFFLICTED RESIDENTS, INCLUDING FAMILIES WHEREIN EVERY MEMBER, EVEN PETS, SUFFER FROM MULTIPLE CANCERS AND OTHER ILLNESSES WHILE LEFT TRAPPED IN HIGHLY CONTAMINATED HOMES WAITING FOR THE PERMANENT RELOCATION THEY HAVE BEEN REQUESTING FOR DECADES.  AFTER ONE OF THESE VISITS, COMMISSIONER DELANEY WAS CLEARLY MOVED:
